My first of many pomanders for my wedding!

Since our flowergirl is on the younger side and can't (sadly) throw pedals at the chuch, we wanted her to still have something that was cute, fun, and she could take home with her!

I started with a 4" ball and used about 3 total stems of flowers. I finished off the center of several flowers with small green and ivory 'berries' to mimic the hypericum berries that will be used in the center of our bouquets, bouts, and centerpieces.

I've been following any advice from the ladybees on DIY invites but I've come across a problem with my font.

I downloaded the font freebooter script (I have word 2000) from dafont.com for our names but I recently printed a sample of the invite I designed and the font prints out jagged!

Any advice would be wonderful!

I love lists.

I check them twice, re-organize them, and do a little Hammy “High 5!” when I cross things off. Itineraries? Love ’em . I like to know exactly where I’m going and when I’m going to be there. Checklists and worksheets? Up there with cookies (Okay, maybe not, but what really *is* up there with cookies?). So when it came time for my final dress search I wanted it to be just as logical and organized. The result?

The Hammy Dress Worksheet

(*Okay, so I don’t really want people to cry when they see me walk down the aisle, but I would be really touched if they did!)

Each member of my dress-judging committee received this worksheet and evaluated potential dresses based on both shazam-ness and tear-jerking strength. I even drew a basic silhouette of a trumpet gown to provide an area to visually capture dress detail, should the judge desire.

After recovering from roll-on-the-floor laughter induced by the ludicrousness of this worksheet, my friends actually filled it out! What started as a crazy little joke for myself actually turned out to be quite useful! Huzzah!

How did you approach your dress search?

Hi Ladies.. while I was out I saw these on clearance and could not bring myself to walk out without buying all the ones they had (only 8).

My Fi thinks they're a bit plain and I feel like they're a bit too "modern' feel for what i was going for (mind you, i dont really know what i'm going for, lol).

I made these fun rehearsal dinner invitations using simple materials and my home printer. For me, the best part was making the sepia-toned baby photos of my fiance and I :)

So, I decided to DIY my favors and I'm going to be making coasters out of 4" what bathroom tile. I bought some cardstock to put on top and needed to get a stamp made with our monogram on it. So I checked around on the internet and the cheapest stamp I found was 37.95 (and it wasn't very big). Which granted I would probably get my 37.95 + S&H, but i decided to keep looking. I saw on here where someone had purchased a stamp on Etsy through seller MidTownTees. I am SO SO SO glad i contacted her! I got not 1 but 2 2 1/2" stamps for $30! So I went out today and bought a stamp pad so i could play around with them and this is what I got!! I am VERY glad I contacted her!! Just a little tip for some other DIY brides!! :)

Sorry for the horrible picture quality...took this with my cell phone since it's late and I didn't want to hunt down the camera! :)

I made these escort cards for my rehearsal dinner using regular cardstock, a paper cutter, and a heart-shaped hole punch. I used graph paper on my table to line up the rectangles I had cut from cardstock, and then scored a fold line using a bone folder and ruler. Since my handwriting isn't great, I printed the names on my home computer and used a paper cutter to get the cuts straight. It was so easy and I'm thrilled with the result!

I made these three sided menus for my rehearsal dinner using basic cardstock and my home printer. I made them so that each side contains something special: "Eat!" (the menu), "Drink!" (the beverage options) "And Be Married!" (a message from my in laws, the hosts).

Before I put the text for each side on, I used a bone folder and ruler to score 3 inch segments, leaving 2 inches at the end to double it over. Once I could see the scored sections, it made it easy to center the text on each of the three sides. Then, I taped it together using double sided tape.

jingle96 on "DIY Winecharms"

Supplies needed:

-20 gauge jewelry wire

-jewelry pliers & cutters-bead assortment

-wooden squares tiles (ex. Scrabble tiles) or anything similar

-paint (your choice in color)

-mod podge

-exterior varnish

-scrapbook paper

-clear address labels

-drill

1. First paint the tiles (2 coats) then let them dry overnight.

2. While that is drying, cut scrapbook paper to place on the tile (a smaller square than the size of the tile itself).

3. I used Avery clear address labels and printed wine categories on the labels (9-11 font sizes depending on the type of font chosen). After printing and cutting the label, place it on the cut paper and add it to the painted tile using a glue stick.

4. Afterwards, carefully brush mod podge on the whole tile. This helps the words from smearing and also keeps the paper in place. After that dries, (I waited overnight), brush the exterior varnish on all sides of the tile, this makes the wine charm waterproof (I used 2 coats).

5. Cut jewelry wire in the size of the ring you want (I used the natural circle of the wire roll so I wouldn’t have to form a circle-one less step). Then curl one end of the circle for the closure.

6. Once all the drying is done, drill a small hole into the top of each tile. Then cut jewelry wire and insert through the hole and twist the wire, add a bead and close the other end to make the charm.

7. Use an assortment of beads in what ever pattern, sliding the beads onto the wire. Don’t forget to add the tile charm. Once all beds are in place to, finish by bending the wire 90 degrees so that it closes into the curled end of the wire.

Who doesn’t like chocolate dipped strawberries?! Well, the answerthat pops up in my head is “No one!” So you can see why I was soexcited to get a wedding order from one of my brides to dochocolate-dipped tuxedo and wedding dress strawberries. Now of course, after dipping 110 of them my excitement dwindled a little - but oncethey were all bagged up and ready to go, the excitement came back.

Now, these wedding favors are definitely a show stopper and very funfor your guests since they get instant gratification once they sinktheir teeth into these beauties. These favors are pricey, butrelatively easy to do. Hopefully this post will open your eyes to theworld of chocolate-dipped strawberries and help you realize that you can do it too!

First, you need to purchase long stemstrawberries. Now of course you can do this with regular strawberries, but if you are doing it for a wedding or event I would suggest goingfor the highest quality of strawberries, which will give you a largerstrawberry and will result in a more uniform look overall and give thatdramatic “wow” factor. Once you have your strawberries, you need towash and dry them thoroughly. Then you need to either temperyour white and dark chocolate, which is quite tricky to learn, but doesgive you a sense of accomplishment once you’ve done it. Or you can buycoating chocolate/confectioner’s chocolate which is already formulatedto harden or set once you have dipped your strawberries. A great brandof coating chocolate is Merkens, which can be found at Sugar Craft. Also, here is a link to more detailed instructions on using coating chocolate.

To make the tuxedos you need to melt ortemper your chocolate, and then dip the front side of the strawberryinto the white chocolate, making sure that you coat all the way up tothe top. Then place the strawberry onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it dry.

Once the strawberry has dried, you need todip the backside of the strawberry into the dark chocolate. After that, dip one side of the strawberry at an angle into the dark chocolate, and then dip the other side of the strawberry at the sameangle into the chocolate again so that you have matching sides of atuxedo suit.

Make sure and let the excess amount ofchocolate fall off of the strawberry into the bowl, so that you don’tget a big pool around the bottom of the strawberry once it dries. Onceyou’re done, place the strawberry back onto the parchment paper so itcan dry.

If your lines aren’t coming out straight, that’s because the chocolate you are dipping into isn’t flat all theway across. You need to make sure that the chocolate is a smooth surface to dip into.

To finish off your tuxedos you need tomake a cornet (aka parchment paper cones) to pipe the chocolate buttonsand bow tie on. To learn how to make cornets, you can go to this link.Fill your cornet with a small amount of chocolate and fold the sides ofthe cornet down to secure. (Hint: don’t overfill your bag because mostlikely the chocolate will harden anyway and you will either need tofill a new bag or try and microwave the old bag for 5 seconds so itre-melts the chocolate.) Only cut off a small part of the cornet tip,so that your chocolate doesn’t flow out too easily and then pipe threesmall dots up the strawberry and pipe two sideways triangles to form abow tie.

To make the wedding dresses you need todip your strawberry completely in white chocolate, and then let it dryon the parchment paper. Once dry, fill another cornet with whitechocolate and cut off a small amount of the tip.

To make the dress effect you need to pipe lines of white chocolate at an angle on one side of the strawberry and then the other.

Let dry and then pipe five small dots at the top of the strawberry to form a necklace.
