I made these pomanders as our aisle decorations. I didn't want anything too distracting since the church is beautiful. I found these great green balls at a craft warehouse and added flowers and extra-long ribbon to the top to match the other items.
The flowers here were fake - I made them about 3 months before the wedding and just strored them on pegs in my 'wedding zone'.
I attached the ribbon with hot glue and greening pins (a 'U' shaped pin). First I overlapped the ends of the ribbon (not a lot, maybe 1/2" of overlap), then pushed the pic through both layers of ribbon. I then put a drop of hot glue on the underside of the ribbon and quickly pushed everything into the ball. I held the pin down for a few seconds to make sure everything stayed.
To apply the flowers I just used hot glue. Since I was hanging the pomanders on the end of the pews I concentrated my flowers on one side, sort of cascading down the front. No use in waisting flowers on the backside where no one can really see!
