I used paint I had left over from my aisle runner. I opted to use my Cricut to cut out the letters, so they were a stencil also, which is great, because after the tedious job of painting the aisle runner, I wanted easy!
It really was easier than I expected it to be!
I'm going to put the monogramed robes I'm making them in the bags along with some necklaces I'm putting together, and a wedding day survival kit. I think I may make a smaller bag for my flower girl too!
I did the same thing with mine the only thing i did different was that instead of painting the letters on I used iron on gems and put their initial on with that and I thought it turned out super cute. I love your colors!!
What kind of brush did you use to paint them? I'm trying to make some and I tested it on paper first but it didn't come out clean like yours. Any advice?
@Kathyb3ar - I have some nice art brushes from when I was in art school. I think cheaper brushes would work too, just make sure you use a small one with a flat tip. I think the flat tip gives you more control.
@Futuremrsswed - The rhinestones sound super cute! I am covering my shoes in rhinestones (I only have one done so far) and I've decided no more rhinestone projects! I initially had ideas to cover all this different things in rhinestones, and I changed my mind after the first shoe!
I bought big tubes of acrylic paint for these, and I still have a ton left over, so I'm using it for different wedding projects too! Thank goodness for DIY!
I found some really nice satin on sale, made a really simple kimono style pattern, and I have an embroidery machine to do the monogram. I am making a different color for each bridesmaid (light green, lavendar, and dark purple) and I'm making myself a white one. They are SO expensive to buy nice ones, and 6 robes (3 bridesmaids, mine, one for my mom, and a mini for my flowergirl) ended up being about $100 in fabric. Gotta love those fabric sales!
A kimono style robe is a SUPER simple pattern, but the satin makes it look really rich.
I saw this post and had to try it.

posted by hthesken 7 months agoI bought the totes at Joann's. They were $8.99 for a three pack and I had a 40% off coupon, so they were only $1.79 each after the discount.
