I found this image and instructions a few weeks ago and fell in love! My mother thinks they are a bit too casual for favors but when you look at the big picture of our wedding (Spring, rustic/country, laid back) they fit perfectly! We are going to change the bags a little bit as I will be making them myself but these are my inspiration! :) Yay!
2) Play around with the amount of water in your recipe - only use enough to coat the birdseed with gelatin.
3) I ruined my first batch by popping them in zip locks after they set and dried at RT overnight, the moisture is no bueno. Make sure it has plenty of time to air dry and be careful with storing it in anything airtight. Good luck!
were planning on doing these for our favors! were having a fall wedding at a rustic lodge and think they will be perfect! however i do have a question...after they are dried for like a day or two could we put them in containers and freeze them till the wedding? instead of trying to do them right before?
We are going with a 'love bird' theme for the wedding so these are perfect and super affordable! I can't wait to start working on these. How far in advance do you think I should start on them? A month? Wedding isn't til the end of July 2012 so we have plenty of time but I don't want to get overwhelmed with all my DIY projects.

A few extra tips I found helpful.
1) I used the 24 mini heart molds from Wilton's that you can get from Michaels(?)/Joanns(?) (http://www.etsy.com/listing/79297107/silicone-wilton-24-heart-mold?utm_source=toolsforetsybuyersse&utm_medium=api&utm_campaign=api). It's much easier to make a huge batch of these for favors (e.g. 200 in my case) and the heart shape is much nicer.
Good luck!
