Supplies I used: - bundle of peonies ($6, 50% at Michaels they price matched hobby lobby, about 10 blooms/bundle) - craft glue (had around the house, free) - paper plates (had around the house, free) - scissors (had around the house, free) - decorative button ($1.60, 2 buttons @ Michaels) - Time (less than an hour)
I bought a bundle of peonies. Pulled 3 off the stem & Seperated each flower. Next I sliced them & divided them into piles according to the shape/size of the petal. Next I cut a 2 paper plates into 2 circles (one larger than the other). I started pasting petals around the edge of the circles. I then took a 4th ((the best looking)) 'bloom' & cut of the entire flower ((stem & all)) from the entire bundle. I cut out the yellow center & added a decorative button. I then cut a center on the paper plate, flower lined circles & put the smallest circle on under then 4th bloom w/ the button center & lastly added the biggest circle. Ta-Da!! I'm not in love with fake flowers ((really who is?)) I really want to use real ones but I really love the composite bouquet & don't think it would last with fresh flowers---- What do you think, yay? or nay?
This is awesome! I have also been looking at the giant, single flower "bouquets" and have been hoping someone would do an artificial one to show off! Thanks! i think its great, and i am going to give it a try, too! And for only a couple bucks, you really can't go wrong!
Ooooooh girl... you just melted my heart... like a million times! I have been looking at these all day and like Ms Rocky, was hoping to see an artificial one! It looks great!!!! Yay... totally going to be checking back in with you! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. I've seen many made with rose petals & they are very beautiful. I've also seen some where they use the sides off an empty ribbon spool instead of paper plates, to give you an idea of the size of smallest circle. Im glad you like it, I'm happy with the way it turned out too. I forgot to add that I didn't use ALL three cut up flowers , the picture above is actually what I had left over after glueing.
I editted my post to include the cost :) @Ms Rock Point-- you are right, it is worth at least trying for a few bucks.... I cant believe that people actually charge $100+ for these
I agree Joyous! I looked at a few that were not even half as cute and were very much over-priced! My MOH and I talked it over and are going to make 2 for me (one to toss) and 6 more for decoration. If it really is as simple as it looks I would say that it would be an afternoon well spent! :)Now, I just have to figure out how to add some feathery accents to it!
Idk how the others are made, but yes this one is super simple. Id like to try a fabric one, but Im trying to find a fabric that does fray to much. I also thought couples could use these to decorate the aisle, either of the floor or like a pomander & tape it to the pews. -- I would just glue the feathers to the bottom of the smallest plate, place them down before glueing and see if you like the look
