I had my uncles make the white frame for me. It's essentially made out of 3 pieces. He made the pieces out of wood and just created the pedestals by making two big boxes that are separate. He then created the sides by nailing 4x6's to the back of the pedestals. Then the top arch was created by using one 4x6 as the base and then a really long, flexible wood pole that he bent and nailed at each end. To secure the arch shape, he just put in a support in the middle. The arch ends had huge screws drilled through. Then he drilled holes in the 4x6 poles of the pedestals so that the screws would fit right in and we could attach the arch at the ceremony site.
The cranes were strung with fishing wire with sequins at the base to keep them from slipping down. I also got the crystal beads from ShopWildThings.com ($21/30 feet). I was worried it might be windy outside so I weighted down the crane strings and beads strings with crystals from cristalier.com (.60 cents/crystal).
Thanks! I wish I had the pro pics to put up because it really did look more dramatic in person. It just fades in a little here in the pictures but I really loved how it came together. :)

posted by gemini22 1 year agoI used 6" origami paper so the cranes came out to be about 4 inches from wing to wing and about 2.5" vertically (I think??).
