Crepe Paper Flowers

When you think of paper flowers you often have flash backs to getting tissue flowers for Valentine's Day in Elementary school.  Well my tissue paper carnations have grown up into Crepe Paper Lilies.

Supplies Needed:

Crepe Paper Folds Color of your choice (Find the folds here)
Wood Floral Picks with wire (in craft stores or online)
Floral Tape
Scissors
Bouquet Holder with foam top (Check out what I used)

Step 1: 
Create a tear drop pattern that will be used to trace your petals onto the crepe paper folds.  The larger each individual petal, the larger the flower will be.

Step 2:
Leaving your crepe paper folded trace your tear drop pattern onto the folds.  The petals turn out nicest if you trace them on a 45 degree angle when holding the paper vertically.  With a sharp pair of scissors you will be able to cut threw the entire package of paper.  Save your scraps to make the center of the flowers!!

Step 3:
To make the centers of the flowers, take your scrap paper and cut them into strips about a quarter inch wide by 1.5 inches long.  Take each individual and tightly twist them.  Get your floral pick and wrap three twists over the top of the pick.  Attach tightly with the wire.

Step 4:
Ok!  This is the part that takes some patience!  You need to pull the creases out of each petal.  This will make your petals thinner and more petal like!  The petals will increase in size a little bit here.

Step 5:
Each flower takes 9 individual petals to complete.  My advice is to only stretch as many petals as you plan to use in a sitting.  Place the petals on evenly around the flower using the wire to hold them.  It will take some practice to get them just right.  Once the petals look evenly distributed, use floral tape to cover the wire and hold the flower together.  Open up the petals!
