DIY Bellyband!

posted 1 year ago in Invitations

I just finished making my first DIY bellyband with my Silhouette Machine.  I LOVE them!  We're using a gatefold card and you can see how it matches the invitation (it's just a computer printed sample, not the real one)

The only problem I had was...the hot pink cardstock is too thick, so it didn't cut precisely.  I did try it out on thinner cardstock I had lying around, and it worked perfectly! (although it's not the right color, but just for the idea)

Here are the pics!

(this is the correct color, but it didn't cut properly - new paper is ordered!)

(this is the correctly cut one, in the wrong color - should be hot pink)

I *think* the difference between the cricut and silhouette are the fact that the cricut was premade cartridges that you can make your designs from.  With the silhouette, you use the computer and can make any image that you can possibly think of.  With the cricut, you have to buy different "theme" cartridges to get the different images.  There may be other differences, but I'm not sure.  I also used my silhouette to do the calligraphy on my invites, as well as make a vinyl image for our card box.

Thanks everyone!  I can't wait until my new paper comes and I can see the hot pink one cut properly!

Thanks!  It's 100lb cardstock.  It's super thick.

I ended up cutting them all this weekend, with the hot pink paper from the first pic.  I realized the machine has a "double cut" feature, so it ended up taking twice as long to cut, but it worked!!!!  They're all done!
