DIY Cocktail Napkins :)

posted 9 months ago in Other reception decor

Ahhh...my latest DIY project.  I was thinking about personalized napkins for our cocktail hour, but got discouraged after seeing the cost!  Then I saw a few bees that did their own and decided it had to be my next project. :)

I got my napkins at Party City, 125 for $4.99. I got the ones made from recycled material just to be Earth Friendly :)  I bought a staz-on ink pad from Michaels with a coupon for about $3.00.  I already had a tun of clear stamps from my wish tree tags, so I used those.

Pretty simple prcess. Just stamp.  I did a few testers to see what designs I wanted, and also to make sure the ink was waterproof.  I came up with 5 designs, and stamped 120 napkins.  Took about 2 hours.  The ink smells terrible...gave me abit of a headache, but no worries.  So here they are!

And just to prove that the ink doesn't run when wet, I soaked one and nothing happened! Just a wet napkin :)

This is absolutely PERFECT!!  I was so excited when I saw this because I had gotten discouraged because of price.  But your DIY napkins look perfect and I am going to do this as well.  Thank you for the GREAT idea!!!Smile

You're welcome!!! Thanks for the compliment!!!  I had seen a lot of posts about doing this and some brides said there were issues with bleeding and stamps that didn't come out clear.  I had zero issues.  Maybe because I used clear stamps instead of rubber stamps?? Also, I got all my stamps from Michaels and AcMoore on the cheap! Good luck!

Wow, never even considered this. I'm so impressed that the ink doesn't run or come off.

This is a great idea! I wanted cocktail napkins too but I thought they'd be too expensive.  Thanks for sharing :)

This is AWESOME!!!  Thanks for the idea!!! :)  I'm going to try this...my FH made a joke the other night about us writing messages on the napkins with Sharpies when I told him how much personalized napkins cost.  He'll LOVE this idea! :)

Thanks for posting, and especially for showing what the ink will end up doing. I was thinking about shelling out a little more for a customized stamp from and Etsy seller, but I was worried that the entire project would be a wash (no pun intended) if the ink ran. My fiancee actually said to me "are we going to be unintentionally giving people moustaches?". :)

Looks great!!

Quick question... since seeing this, I've been looking at stamps I'd use for this project (when instead I really, really, really should be studying haha - sometimes planning a wedding is not good for my school work!!).  Back to the point, I really like your L initial, but I can't really see what the name of the company is that made the stamp in the picture.  Would you mind sharing that information?? And also, where did you get it? Online, a national craft store, or somewhere more local? (there are very few craft stores anywhere near me except for Michaels and Hobby Lobby, unfortunately!)

@Stephanie18x... I'm not sure if this is the same stamp I saw, although it looks very much the same.  It was on the clearance rack at Michaels or AC Moore about a month ago.  If it is the same you may have difficulty finding it.  Sorry!

Thanks ladies!  You should all do it...it was so easy and cheap cheap!!  i did see a few posts out there referencing customized stamps that were from Etsy or Ebay and how the lettering was blurred when they tried to stamp....I did not have any problems with my CLEAR stamps, so maybe it is rubber ones that cause issues?  Love to see what all of come up with! Share! Share!

@stephanie18x:  I just got the "L" stamp on the $1 rack at AcMoore a few days ago.  You can try looking at Michaels for something similar or Hobby Lobby...I don't hav one of those near me, so I'm jealous!  Anyway, I should be done with mine if you want it.  Not planning to stamp "L" all over! LOL
