Yes, I one of the brave that venture uncharted DIY territory for myself and did all of the arrangements for my wedding. I saved a bundle, but I was soooooo tired during my rehersal dinner and wedding, which sucked. Part of that was because wholeblossoms sent my order of Dahlias late and didn't let me know then Fedex lost them for a bit and they arrived hours about 30 hours before my wedding. They were supposed to arrive 3 days before. I ordered my Ivory Petals from fiftyflowers.com and they delivered on time and called me to ask how everything arrived and if I needed any explanation on care.
Here are the Dahlias after refrigerating and hydrating. Many were squished because of all of the transit issues.
I ordered 120 Dahlias and those were more than enough for 12 tables with one dahlia arrangement on each 7 Bridesmaids Bouquets and bouts for the guys and some for the top of the cake.
Hydrangea City. I ordered way too many about 35 didn't get used and these are huge bunches of flowers per stem. They were from samsclub.com and held up really well in the Miami Heat. I did stay on top of hyrdration. My bouquet and the cake toppers where out of water for about 6 hours before they started to wilt. These are the leftovers.
Transporting was a big time waster.
My Aunt making my arrangement because I ran out of time.
For the girls bouquets we just bunched some good looking flowers together and then wraped it with green floral tape. Then we would wrap the stems with pretty ribbon and held together by a floral pin.
Last minute bouquets. Opps, I'm short two. This is me minutes before I put my dress on, lol.
Wrapping the ribbon:
We put trivia pursuit cards on the tables as conversation starters.
You did a beautiful job! I wanted to DIY but my FH said I wasn't allowed to make myself nuts trying to get it done the few days before. Good for you!!!
It took some convincing by my beautiful niece, but after googling brooch bouquets, I was charmed by the idea and was recruited for making one for her December wedding. This was quite the challenge......from finding and collecting the right brooches to the assembling the bouquet, the project became a mission. I think it turned out very well and she loved it when she opened it as my gift for her shower.
I love the centerpiece, I can't believe the dahlias came so late, but you were still smiling when putting together the BM bouquet, very admirable (I think I would've cried).
Would you be willing to share a close up picture of how you arranged your dahlia centerpiece? I would like to borrow your idea if I may.
