Instructions on how to make a bouquet with silk flowers

posted 5 months ago in Flowers

So I saw tons of pretty DIY bouquets, some with real flowers and others with silk, but I haven't come across one that walked you through the process of actually doing it. So if you anything like me then you literally need a step by step to be able to recreate your masterpiece. This is how I did mine. This is how I made the bridemaids bouquets.

Materials: (all from Walmart)

2 bunches of white carnations $3 ea

purple ribbon $1.60 (it was enough for all four bouquets)

floral tape $1 (this was enough for all the bouquets, mine included)

corsage pins $1 (they might have been a little more expensive, can't remember. But one pack was enough for all the bouquets)

clippers (to cut the stems etc)

Step 1

Cut each stem, separating it from the bunch

Step 2

Remove the leaves. these slide right off.

Step 3

Place 4 carnations around one, creating a circle. This is the center. The stems should creat a spiral effect. Wrap floral tape where the stems naturally meet. Pull the tape to stretch it so that it sticks.

Step 4

Continue add more flowers, one at a time around the bunch. After going round the cricle add more tape at the same place and continue until all the flowers are finished. Be sure to fill gaps as you place flowers around the circle. Create a dome shape. If your bunch is bigger than mine be sure to place the flowers a little lower for each new layer, to create this shape.

Step 5

Wrap the whole handle with floral tape (as long as you want the steams to be). Then trim the stems to desired length, making the stems all even.

This is what it should look like at this point.

Step 6

Then begin wrapping over the floral tape with ribbon. Keep the folds even.

Step 7

When you get to the bottom, leave a little to show the stems. Cut the ribbon after wrapping twice over at the bottom.

Then fasten with a corsage pin. Place the pin in an upward way, making sure it does not poke through the back or front. Run your fingers across to make sure.

Step 8

Continue adding pins all the way up the handle.

Wow thank you! I agree that no one has done a step by step and in this new DIY crafting world, I would prefer step by step instructions. You did a fabulous job!

Those look great and fairly simple... Do you know approx. how any carnations are in the bridesmaids bouquests? Also, what did you use for your bouquet???

The above link is my step by step for the bridal bouquet.

Hey ladies, is there a way to have an email sent to me directly when a comment is made on a post I made. Because I do not check my own posts regularly so when one of you have a question for me I might not get back to you asap? Let me know. Thanks
