I was so excited to try this that I forgot were I saw the DIY post! I wasn't sure if it was here so I wanted to share it with all the other bees. BTW...Whoever you are you are my HERO! I put my own spin on it to save material and cash.
I started with Sculpey baking clay that you can get a a craft store. I paid $1.77 for mine and it will make 20. You will also need some floral wire.
Roll out the clay like thick spagetti, roll it into a spiral, and smoosh the wire into the end.
Bake in the ove at 275 degrees for about 25 minutes. They will still be flexible until they are cool.
Considering how expensive artifical fiddleheads are, this project was well worth my time!
does sculpty come in more than one color? If so, what color did you use, because I'm going for a color of fiddleheads similar to the ones you have here!
Thanks for the tutorial, I've just decided to add fiddleheads to my bouquets and centerpieces and this helps a lot!
I used black sculpty, but they have a variety of colors and other brands of clay too. I thought I may get creative and spray a little glitter spray on them to give them some bling.
I mixed black and brown sculpey and it made the PERFECT dark brown fiddlehead color. I used them to make my tissue paper flower boutonnieres and I"m using the long ones on the wires (like yours) to make the bouquets. Thanks for the tutorial!!!
