I've begun my brooch bouquet. I started by wiring each brooch with a 16 guage wire, which was way too stiff, then I tried an 18 guage wire, which was better. Once I had all the brooches wired, I cut a styrofoam ball in half and stuck each wire through the ball. It came out OK, but didn't look like the other bouquets I had seen. Finalcly I watched a tutorial on youtube (which I should have done originally :( and found out that I should have used 24 guage wire and silk hydrangeas to put all the brooches in. So, now I've rewired about 3/4 of the brooches and have bought the silk flowers (which make a nice mound shape). Hopefully I'll finish soon and will post the final pics.
I'm also doing a brooch bouquet. I'm using BIG rings and HUGE earrings. I started with smaller brooches, and I thought it looked cluttered so I have now decided to use BIG rings, brooches, and earrings. I still have a long way to go but you can see the start of my brooch bouquet in my posts. All of my bridesmaids will carry brooch bouquets too. Its a lot of work so I commend anyone doing this! I keep having bad dreams about it not turning out!!!

posted by meowmix318 1 year agoSo this is my question:
What do the bridesmaids carry?
What about groomsmen?
Do we just skip flowers all together?
I am so confused right now. I am really not a flower girl so that is really fine with me. But I just need some help trying to figure this out.
Also, what about using other items in the bouquet?.......like rings and cufflinks?
posted by Mommyhope 1 year agoMommyhope, I originally had the same questions. But since I've decided to carry a brooch bouquet too, this is what I came up with:
1. The bridesmaids will carry silk hydrangeas with 5 brooches inserted (one of the brooches will be their initial)
2. The men will wear silk hydrangea sprigs with silk leaves looped to look like ribbons.
3. We're having silk hydrangeas for our centerpieces and will decorate the ceremony trellis with them as well.
Hope this gives you something to think about!

The rest of the wedding party is having their "flowers" made out of birch wood shavings dyed to my wedding color palette.
Here is a pik of the birch bouquet for the bridesmaids. When my brooch one is done I'll show that as well.
I would LOVE to see the youtube tutorial you mentioned!!
Great looking brooches! It really looks like it will come together beautifully!
