I didn't want the traditional guestbook so we did something a little different. I took a large glass vase, tied some ribbons around it, and sat it in a wooden wreath with (you can see it on the left edge of the photo) a handmade flower attached. I also created 3 stacks of business-card sized cards - 2 of them had prompts on them "Love is..." and "We wish you...", and 1 was blank - and added the note to encourage people to leave us a little message. I also had small coin-envelopes there to slip the completed cards into before dropping them in the bowl.
We took the cards with us on our honeymoon and had a great time opening them and reading them to each other. We had some really funny responses, as we expected, and some really sweet ones too! I will be making a scrapbook with them (once I find the time!) by sticking the envelopes, flap out, onto brightly colored paper.
Thank you so much for posting this! I loved it and did a version (alright, a really similar version) of it myself! My cards are index sized and I too have three choices, but my middle one is "[Groom] should always... [Bride] should always..." I'm looking forward to what our guests say love is and what we should always do! Thanks again!
I thought when you post something in the DIY section...you were helping other brides out (like I have done and many others have done). I guess I'm a little thrown back that someone would want $15 shipped just for the little sign? Most brides that DIY are looking to save money and have a little fun along the way and even share tips and info with other DIY brides. I for one, would never charge someone that much for a sign. I paid less for the ribbon and vase lol Thanks...but no thanks! And its very pretty...but not $15 pretty. Just my two cents.
@yelhsa439: Well thank you for your opinion. I did explain how I did it, and answered questions about how I did it when people asked, so that's why it's in the DIY section. I had fun and saved a bunch of money doing just about everything by myself, and I posted many of my DIY projects with instructions to help others as well. I hope I have helped many brides through my time here at Weddingbee. I'm sorry you don't feel as though that was helpful for you, and I wish you luck on your wedding projects in the future.
I very much enjoyed this idea. As I am new to this site, and my colors coincide with what you had, would you mind again sharing your ideas? On a tight budget and you have quite the eye from what I can tell. I can be reached directly at mils2go@yahoo.com. Thanks again...
