I created my own brooch bouquet using brooches that I purchased, brooches purchased for me, and family heirlooms from my side as well as my groom's. The result was stunning and I received so many compliments!! I wish I would have taken more pictures during the process, but it is easy enough to explain!
Materials Needed:
8" (or whatever size you prefer) styrofoam ball
hot glue gun
75-100 brooches
knife
scissors
1 yd satin
straight pins
8" wooden dowel rod
1. Cut styrofoam ball in half
2. Use scissors to make a small, deep hole in the middle of the flat side of one half. Fill half of hole with hot glue, then insert wooden rod. Hold until dry.
3. Wrap half in satin. Secure with pins and then hot glue. Remove straight pins.
4. Start in the top middle of the ball. Open brooch, place dab of hot glue at top of straigh part of pin, near fascinator and at the part where the end of the pin would go, stick pin into styrofoam ball and hold until glue dries.
5. Continue doing this around the ball. Make sure you are rotating and are balancing colors and textures.
6. Wrap flowers around outside so stems stick out of bottom. Wrap with ribbon.
That really is the prettiest brooch bouquet I have ever seen! Soo coordinated and perfectly round... Awesome job! You almost make me want one but I really can't envision myself holding anything but flowers on that day... I'm way too traditional! Lol!
its beautiful, i too have put a collar of white flowers around my brooch bouquet to neaten the edges, but i didnt use as many, but looking at how nice yours looks with more, i think i might now add some more.....are yours real or silk flowers?
in fact , looking at yours , mine is very similar in colour etc......
Thank you everyone! I can't wait to get my professional pictures back and post them!
@Miss Otter...I probably spent about $100. However, I know they can be expensive to make if you purchase all of your brooches! I was, luckily, given a lot of my brooches by my family and my groom's family. When you're looking, search "lots of brooches" on eBay and check out fabulousbrooch.com...that where I got some of mine :)
@anne B...LOVE YOUR BOUQUET! I have real flowers around my bouquet (I dropped it off at the florist about a week beforehand and they delivered it the day of with the flowers on it with the hand tied ribbon...) love the look of the metal and flowers!
I am in love with this bouquet! It is so perfect and at first I was against putting flowers in mine, but after looking at yours I may consider it! I wish you made a video! I am so bad at digesting written directions.
Wow! This turned out amazing! I have seen a few of these on here and while I love the concept I thought the execution in most did not come out good. You did an awesome job of making the thing cohesive and as a result it looks beautiful instead of just being a jumbled mess.
