So I decided to make purses for my bridesmaids to carry at my wedding. Here was my inspiration (From J Crew I think):
I figured the easiest way to start was to use a pink cloth purse:
Then I got 2 different shades of pink fabric from Joann's. I cut 2 inch circles then hand-sewed them together to make a "flower." Then hand-sewed each flower all around each purse until they looked nice and full!
I've had some people ask how I made the fabric flowers (ended up putting on about 25 per purse). Here is the link to the flower tutorial: http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/how-to-make-fabric-flowers.html
Wow, these are absolutely gorgeous! I love the colours paired with your bridesmaids dresses.
I think it looks just as good if not better than the inspiration piece, good job!!!
LOVE !!!! You did an awesome job! Do you mind sharing where you got the cloth purses? Thanks :)
I had a person from etsy custom make the original cloth purse :)
love!!! I may do this for my wedding too! Thanks for sharing. Great inspiration
Hi Bees! I edited this to include the fabric flower tutorial link since lots of you were wondering how I made them. I had about 25 flowers per purse- Which took awhile but was definitely worth it! My bridesmaids loved having a handmade keepsake- And a purse to use at other weddings :)
Do you mind sharing the contact for etsy? Thanks :)
Sure- I got them from BluSkys Boutique!
My bridesmaids are wearing dresses similar to that material and style. Also my colors are violet. Do you know where your BMs shopped for their shoes and what style shoes did they wear?
Hey, I haven't checked out BluSkys Boutique and thought the purses from the Etsy shops I did find were expensive for what you're getting so I made my own following this tutorial from Martha Stewart: http://www.marthastewart.com/269495/fabric-clutch
As long as you have access to a sewing machine, they're really pretty easy to do and fairly quick to make - I made five in like 3 hours (spread out over a couple days). Just wanted to share, incase any of you were interested in DIY-ing the bags too :)
