Quick, Cheap, and Easy Escort Cards

posted 2 years ago in Escort or Place cards

1.)  I started by cutting my green cardstock into 4"x5" rectangles.

2.)  Score at 2.5" inches and fold in half.

3.)  You now have a tent that measures 4"x2.5" on the front.

4.)  I designed the names in Microsoft Digital Image Suite.  I made a template that had 4x2.5 squares and then filled in the names and a border.  I was able to fit 10 names on each 8.5X11" piece of white cardstock.

5.)  Cut these out using a paper cutter.

6.)  Attach to the center front of the tent.

And there you have it.  I made 60 in about an hour and a half.  I'm going to put the table number and more information about our favors on another white square or label on the inside.

Price Breakdown:

6 tents out of each $0.33 12X12" green cardstock

10 names out of each $0.05 8.5X11" white cardstock

300 escort cards = $18.00

Ummm ya know I'm not quite sure how you would go about doing it in Word....I haven't been a huge fan of that.  But I guess you would probably want to lay out squares in the size you want them to be with an outline that is a faint gray so you can cut along it.  The just go about centering your words.  Sorry I can't help much, I don't really know anything about Word except how to type in it.

@mrs.meggie.... I believed for the name I used SF Grandezza from dafont.com and I'm not sure what the initial is...but I can let you know on Sunday when I get back to school and check my own computer.

You could use a label template in MS Word to create the cells as if you were going to print your document on a sheet of labels.  I know you can choose pre-set label sizes in Word or you can create custom dimensions.  If you do the custom option you can just set to the size she has mentioned above.  then just create your base (with the outline) and then you'll just have to hand type the names.  Then just print to what ever paper you'd like to use and cut!

@exghawaii - for Word you could go to a website like avery.com and download a label or business card template for word.  That will give you squares to work in.  Otherwise you could create a text box (set the border to a light grey color so you have a cutting line) and then copy and paste that text box 6 or 8 times (to fill up the page).  That way when you write in one box it won't affect the others.  Let me know if you have any questions, I feel like I've become somewhat of a pro at Word since I don't have a desing suite either :)
