So I have made my first attempt at Save the Date Magnets. My wedding is in September 2012, but I thought because my Fiance and I have a lot of family out of town it would be nice to recieve the Save the Date in a Christmas Card so they can pre plan :)
I found the design online and it helped me decide on what I wanted to do. Our theme is vintage/antique and we plan on focusing on having a lot of antique keys and mason jars. So hence the theme of the Save the Date. I found a free template online for the Mason Jar drawing and using Word I just inputed the information in. I bought the key puncher online and punched out tons and tons of keys and then attached the keys to the mason jar cardstock with a peice of twine. I bought adhesive sticker magnets from the dollar store cut, stick, and volla our Save the Dates. WARNING if you want to use the Avery brand magnets I found they were TERRIBLE quality. I think because of the weight of the cardstock it didn't end up sticking to the fridge.
I have a lot of ideas of what I would like to do, its just a matter of finding the time, at least I still have 9 months!
I got it off the site... www.franticstamper.com... its based out of the states but they ship to Canada for a decent price! If you or someone you know has a die cutter you can find a much nicer die to cut a key shape... I have a sizzix and I found a much nicer key die. Just a thought! If you need anything else PM me!
Jenny - I absolutely LOVE this diy project!! I was just thinking of save the dates the other day (our wedding is 10/13/12, also doing a vintage theme) and I really don't want to do the typical photo of the couple in the grass on a generic piece of cardstock. Something like this is perfect - so original! I love the look of the metallic cardstock, too, nice touch! Good luck with the rest of your projects :)
