I am so proud of my Mr. DIY fiance! While visiting with family over the holidays, I was admiring some Christmas decorations when Mr. DIY piped up and told me that he and his grandmother would make these together when he was a kid. I thought this would be a great way to honor is grandmother and light up my dance floor.
All you need are about 60 clear solo cups, a saudering pen ($5), and White wire string lights (I used 60ct but the count doesnt really matter as long as it is over 60).
I hit the day after Christmas light sales and saved a ton, and this is what he came up with.
Well...I have to add a twist to the lantern idea....Since I'm having a garden wedding I have decided experiment with adding flowers to the spaces in between the cups. I will update the DIY with finished pictures, I hope.
OOOOOOOOMG!!! I have never seen these before but now that I have I have to use them for my wedding somehow! This is AWESOME and I love the idea of using these for Christmas decor too :)
THANK YOU so much for sharing! It's so awesome that others are willing to share their ideas, it's very helfpul - especially helpful for someone like me who is a DIY bride on a tight budget - THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry so long MarianW. The saudering pen melts a hole in the plastic and it melts two cups together. You have to burn the hole through the cups in the spot that you want together. Be careful to have a ventilated area, plastic burning kinda stinks.
