SUBMERGED CALLA LILIES---These are a few samples I have done at home before deciding to hire a "day of" planer to handle my decor. My colors are teal, purple, and silver. This design was very easy, but can be a bit messy and time consuming.

Thanks so much! The flowers are from Hobby Lobby! $1 per stem when they are half off!

Wow that's a great deal! And they're silk? I would've never known!

They are the Hobby Lobby version of Real Touch flowers (latex/polyurethane) so they look and feel real. Plus, they won't bleed in water. I kept this on my dinner table for two weeks.

What are the sizes of the vases?  And where did you get them/how much??  Love this idea but still trying to find the vases ... thanks for the help!

The smallest is 7" and cost only $1 at Dollar Tree. The others are 11", 18", and 24" all purchased from TJMaxx/HomeGoods from as little as $4.99 to $16.99. The vases were gifts from my aunt but I recommend buying wholesale at DFW Glass. It is cheaper than anything you'll find in the retail stores even with coupons. Cylinder vases are ridiculously overpriced. Here is a link. If you live near Texas by chance, you may be able to drive to their store and pick it up versus shipping it.

I'm doing the exact same centerpieces...even down to the Hobby Lobby calla lillies & DFW vases :)

My question is: did you use any wire to hold down the flowers at the bottom? And I'm doing the 7", 9.5" and 14" vases. For me, the 14" vases are the only ones that will have calla lillies, the other 7" & 9.5" vases will have pillar candles. Do you think this will look okay? Or should I just do flowers for all of them?

Thanks in advance!

dav0730,

I think your idea is fine. Here is a possibly cheaper suggestion, since I know pillars can be pricey. Since you're probably doing a floating candle on top of your calla vases, how about doing the same floating candles with rocks minus the flowers in your smaller vases. White pucks are $1 at Hobby Lobby when they have their sales. That way, your look is cohesive throughout and you'll save a little money. This was my plan for my other tables. They will sit on silver platters in clusters of three (platters also from Dollar Tree) Putting the submerged look on every table adds up quickly.

P.S. I did not use any wire. The rocks held them down just fine and because you'll have to do some bending and flexing to fit the flower in the vase, it'll fit snugly. Don't cut the stem though, because they will kill your wire cutters and RUST! Hope this helps. Any more questions feel free to ask.
