Tamee's DIY Invites

posted 2 years ago in Invitations

The invitations are done! I did everything myself, however I bought the envelopes and the pink pockets. I made the envelope liners as well...I found scrapbooking paper I loved, created a template, trimmed them all out and glued them in. The left is the official invite. The slips on the right have directions, travel info, hotels, RSVP, and additional info. And anyone coming from out-of-town will get a Welcome to Kansas slip that tells them about the BBQ the night before the wedding.

My cat, Koru, likes to help with all my projects, especially when I'm printing!

Did you line the rsvp envelopes as well?

@herobinson : I don't have a template per se.  I got the envelopes and pockets from Cards & Pockets.  The insterts are 3.5 inches wide.  The tallest insert is 6.5 inches tall and each insert is .5 inches shorter than the one before.  You can choose to buy the pre-sized inserts and invitations, however I chose to save some moolah by printing on regular 8.5x11 sheets of cardstock.  The sheets of cardstock was a cheaper way to go, and easier to print close to the edges, but it did take FOREVER to trim everything.

@SwedishBerry : The RSVP is the third insert down, with the flap of the black envelope you can see peaking out. I had the main part of the envelope wrap around the tallest three inserts because it was more aestheticly pleasing to have just a hint of the envelope.  I also included a blank receipe card, which was the same size as the RSVP, in hopes of boosting my receipe collection.

@tameerenae How did you like Cards & Pockets? I'm seriously thinking about ordering from them (I just ordered some swatches about 15 minutes ago).

What are your insert titles?  I can read the first three, but it looks like you have three more.  Adorable invitations, bytheway!

Toffee: I had an excellent experience with Cards & Pockets. The quality was great and they responded quickly to emails.

MrsFrett: The wedding is in the country, and you can't trust GoogleMaps or MapQuest.  The first (tallest) insert is "How to Get There", on the front is the directions from Kansas City, and the back is a map. The second insert is "After The Ceremony", on the front is directions from the ceremony site to the reception site, and on the back is a map. The third insert is "Travel & Accomodations", which includes the airlines that fly into KCI and the two hotels in the area. The fourth insert is "Will You Come?" The fifth insert is "Additional Info" which includes our wedding website that has our registry info. For everyone coming from out of town, they'll get a sixth insert "Welcome to Kansas".

These are so cute- what a great job! I have a question... how did you create the backing layer for your invitation?? (The layer with the loops)

Miss Jaren: I used solid scrapbook paper and punches from Martha Stewart Corner Punch Loops and Edge Punch Loops
