So when I first saw the tears of joy packets I thought yay, another cute DIY project for me to take on. I first did a round of TOJ packets using fancy address labels, printed our names and date on them and stuck them on the front of the envelope. Something just looked plain, I'm not sure if there wasnt enough "texture" or what but I wasn't happy. Tonight I did round 2 of TOJ packets and am MUCH more satisfied!
1.I purchased Martha Stewart Confetti packets from another bee. These are vellum envelopes filled with confetti and sealed with a little eyelet sticker (very easy to open and re-seal). I opened them all and emptied the confetti (I think I'll save it for tables at my bridal shower)
2.I opened up a pack of Klennex travel size tissue. I lined up a tissue with the packet and snipped off the end (better to cut a little more than have some tissue hanging out the top). I know a lot of brides listed how they refolded their tissues, put in two tissues, etc. I wanted this to be as easy as possible so I just stuffed with one tissue per envelope, which I think will be sufficient because it's not like people are going to be crying SO hard that they need more than one tissue (I hope?)
3.Next I stuffed in the one cut tissue and closed over the sticker. The front of these envelopes have a "Martha Stewart" logo on the front printed veryyyy tiny- but enough to bug me and look a little too DIY. (this was one of my gripes with my originals). I cut some brown ribbon that was just thick enough to cover up the logo and wrapped it around the front securing with a tiny piece of tape. (tape in front because it's going to get covered)
4.Last I printed a cute quote I found "tears of joy/tears of laughter/tears of happily ever after" on some Kraft paper (3.99 for a big pack) off a word document. I then went through and hole punched with a craft punch (40% off at hobby lobby I think it was about $7?) **one mistake I made, print with enough room that you can cut a full size shape out of each one!** (I printed too many on a page and had to skip a row each time)
5.I took my paper cut out and used a glue dot to secure it to the front and cover up tape area. Yay my TOJ are done! only need to do about 65 more....

Is the opening flap for the envelope in the back or with the saying? Also, what's the thickness of your ribbon?
posted by Katie98 3 months agoIt's in the back! The eyelette seal is in the back as well. The ribbon is about 1/4" thick
