Tissue paper topiaries

posted 11 months ago in Aisle decor

I'm getting married in a hotel and the chairs will be covered, which ruled out a lot of the usual aisle decorations.

So I decided to make these tissue paper topiaries instead. I have two done so far and will be making 10 in total.

The base is a terracotta pot I painted black, and the flowers are made of tissue paper and pinned to a 6" styrofoam ball.

Thanks ladies!

I used this tutorial, and just changed the sizes a bit.

I used a 6" styrofoam ball and cut my tissue paper into 6.5" x 10" pieces (bigger flowers means less work for me Smile). I also used 6 layers of tissue paper instead of 4.

Pulling apart the tissue paper layers can be a little tricky -- I made many rips and tears, but the flowers hide any imperfections (thankfully!).

@cupcakebrown It's floral foam I cut to fit the shape of the pot. I also used a lot of hot glue where the dowel is in the foam to try and secure it (it's really wobbly), but it's still not that great, so if anyone has any ideas I'd lve to hear them :)
