I was inspired by the trees I found on etsy and since FH didn't want to spend hardly any money on a cake topper... I decided to make my own...
If pressed, I probably wouldn't make another one -- it was way more time consuming that I thought it would be, but I thought it came out cute and hopefully it will look good on top of our cake!
hey, can you post instructions on how you did it? And what size beads you used? I love it and can't find any instructions for the life of me anywhere online!
@llcoolln - It was a lot of trial and error. I used a wooden hear that I found at Hobby Lobby and painted it brown from the base. My fiance drilled holes into the base for the tree to eventually sit. I found pictures of similar trees on Etsy and just tried to model mine afer them. I started at the roots and worked my up the trunk, eventually getting to the branches and adding the beads for leaves. The beads I picked up at Joanns because they were the right colors - but I'm not even sure what size they were. I used thick jewelry wire for the tree. Then I used gorilla glue to connect the tree to the base.
UPDATE: Here's the final product on the cake!
