So today some dried lavender I had order arrived in the mail, and my house immediately smells wonderful. I had previously ordered a vintage typewriter from ebay. It was 99 cents but the shipping was obviously expensive. Then it was a little dirty so I had to clean it. But after I did that, I tied some brown tulle around it, some polka dot ribbon, stuck some dried lavender in it and secured with glue, glued some pearls and vintage brooches on it, and I like it very much.
I like these references to literacy in wedding decor. We have a lot of postcard references, and he is a professor and I am a librarian, so it suits us a lot. Not to mention we have a bit of a Mad Men/ retro theme and my bridesmaids look like sexy 1960s secretaries so it really fits. Plus the lavender softens up the overall look I think which includes a lot of vintage brooches. I thought I would use this for one of the floral arrangements at the ceremony.
thanks! I think old things seem romantic to me because it seems like it has a story behind it... I have a lot of a postcard motif in my wedding decor, and my friend came over once and was like "what is your theme?" and I was sort of like "imagine a couple in the 40s who is seperated and writing to each other from far away and how romantic that would be" and then I sort of laughed because that's crazy its not a movie haha... but I guess with wedding decor there are different things that different people find romantic or that represent strong feelings of love to them...

posted by lgorman24 1 year agoThis is neat. How much was it to come across a vintage type writter?
posted by Nola 1 year agoIt was 99 cents... the shipping however was like $30 and it is quite heavy.. I have also seen people using typewriter keys which could be interesting.
