Will you be my maid of honor?

posted 1 year ago in Other paper

I've seen so many great ideas on how brides asked their gals to be their bridesmaids, and I found several DIYs that I loved. So I took inspiration from a few different projects, and this is the end result! Enjoy!

When my 'maids got their card, this is what they saw when they opened the envelope:

The envelope liner is a collage of photos of the bridesmaid and me!

Here's what was in the package:

Cheeks923: I actually got it off the weddingchicks website! It's fabulous! You can totally customize it to whatever colours you like. They also have custom monograms, invites, std's, all for FREE! Here's the link: http://www.weddingchicks.com/freebies/

For the monogram you see here, I clicked on the "will you be my cards" on the menu on the left-hand side. Enjoy! I'll e-mail this to ya too, just in case : )

Could you please share the information on the fanned out cards? I love the idea of including information like that, but need some ideas. Up close pictures or just an email would do, email me at Lindsey_haney@yahoo.com if you don't mind... Such a cute idea and I'm so going to steal it for my girls!

Hey gals! I'm so glad you like the idea! Here is what was written on each card:

The Wedding Party

This card included the names of each member of the wedding party. I divided the card into 2 colums, "the gals" and "the guys". I wrote the names, the relationship to the bride/groom, as well as their contact information. At the bottom was a little note thanking them for sharing this special time with us.

Your Role

"To lend support, advice, love, and friendship throughout this process (and hopefully, long afterward!); To hit me over the head with a brick if I become one of those brides who can’t talk about anything but her wedding; To be honest about what you can and cannot do; To dig me out if I find myself occasionally buried beneath a pile of paper, ribbon and tulle; To smile for pictures; And finally, to stand next to me as [my fiance] and I step into this next chapter in our lives (yay!).

Each of you will be asked to fulfill different roles throughout the planning of the wedding. Because I want each of you to enjoy this process with me, I will do my best to play up your strengths and interests, and also to give you as much choice, freedom, and say in the matters as possible. Please feel free to talk to me if there is particular aspect of the wedding you would love to help out with or take charge of (or, that you are completely opposed to having anything to do with!).

Most importantly, please let me know right away if you become uncomfortable with anything, at any time, regarding any aspect of this whole deal. If you feel I am asking for too much, if you feel neglected or uninvolved, if expenses seem to be becoming prohibitive – anything at all. All I truly want is your friendship and support. "

Attire

"I have asked you to stand up with me because you have a special and unique place in my heart and in my life. You are each so wonderfully different and beautiful that I want each of you to shine in your own way. Therefore, I will not attempt to make you all look identical on my wedding day.

Dresses: I would like to stick to a general colour palette and style, but my goal is that you will all feel fabulous in what you are wearing. We will look for and choose something together.

Hair and makeup: You all know what you look best in – and again, I don’t want you all to look the exact same. All I ask is that you try to match the overall feel of the wedding and not go too over the top or formal. We are hoping to have a casual, fun, and intimate wedding and your look will really set the tone for this. Think simple, loose, light, and fun!

Accessories: On me! Stay tuned!

I Promise...

…to not turn into a bridezilla.

…to keep things light and fun.

…to take your personal styles and tastes into account.

…to treat your time and energy with the respect it deserves.

…to be grateful for every single thing you do.

Thank you so much for sharing this special time with me. I love you so much and I am so blessed to have you in my life.

Infinite x’s and o’s."

***And that's all! Best of luck on your projects, ladies! xo
